Jefferson Elementary School
The Jefferson Elementary School community includes a diverse population in a neighborhood located in the northeast quadrant of Rochester. Its mission is to prepare children for tomorrow by experiencing the love of learning today. The committed staff focuses on providing opportunities for children to develop strong reading, writing, and math skills. The Action 100 program offers a home/school connection that increases student reading. In addition to a strong academic program, Jefferson has programs in special education, Gifted and Talented Education (G/T), and English as a Second Language; this school also serves as the District center for students with autism. Parent involvement at school is encouraged, and Jefferson has strong Parent Teacher Student Association (PTSA) and Volunteers in Education (ViE) programs. Jefferson Elementary School has a rich tradition of serving several generations of Rochester citizens.
